Weekly Topic Saturday #51: For Your Glory

Welcome to Weekly Topic Saturdays!

Hello all, I pray that your week was filled with joy and love. Welcome back to those who have been with me here at A Golden Dream. For my first-timers, a great big hello there, if you haven't already please check out my previous posts when you get a chance.

Please don't hesitate to join the conversation, there are no right or wrong answers or questions. I'm not proclaiming to know everything, I am simply just discussing and picking topics on things that I personally have gone through and that I know would help someone.

As we get closer to A Golden Dream’s one-year anniversary, I really wanted to write on this topic, For Your Glory. The sole reason for starting A Golden Dream was to encourage, and inspire people all while I sharpened my own knowledge of God’s Holy Word through reading and application. The first person I told that I was starting this blog was my best friend and once I got some encouragement, my information, topic ideas, and a launching date, I then told my mother and a few others. My mother thought it was an absolutely great idea and she told me specifically “Whatever you do, do it for the Glory of God; because once God is in it you don’t have to worry.” This piece of wisdom and encouragement has kept me Humble, grounded, and steadfast at actively seeking God’s face when needing to know what to say or do.

Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.

Isaiah 43:7

One amazing song that comes to mind and has inspired me for this topic is “ForYour Glory” by Tasha Cobb Le0nard. The lyrics are outstandingly perfect when we talk about doing God’s will for His Glory. Take a look, if you need to, pause here and go listen!

I’m desperately waiting

To be where you are

I’ll cross the hottest desert

I’ll travel near or far

For your glory

I will do anything

Just to see you

To behold you as my King.

-For Your Glory, Tasha Cobb Le0nard

I mean COME ON!!!!! You can’t get any better than that. I meditated on this song so much, as we all should, it’s truly a great song that puts so much into perspective. I have been asking myself more recently, “What will/would I give up to be where God is? What would I have to do to be in his presence?” Okay, so before I get too ahead of myself, let me back up and take it from the top! Y’all ready? Let’s go!

What Does It Mean To Glorify God? And Why?

To glorify God is to honor him with your life. This is inclusive of everything from eating, to prayer, to acknowledgment, to thanksgiving, and so much more. All of these things and more give God all the glory and honor he desires. To glorify God means to give glory unto Him.

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God

1 Corinthians 10:31

I really love this passage from the Word because it just emphasizes whatever I do to do it for God and God only. God makes it clear that we have the ability to make our own personal choices as long as they do not interfere with another person’s walk with God. To glorify God requires that we are fully committed to serving, and working for Him.

Even if you don't understand, will you do it for His Glory?

If it makes you uncomfortable and frustrated,

will you still do it for His Glory?

How Can We Glorify God?

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither, whatever they do prospers.

Psalm 1:1-3

Everything that you do, you should be doing it for God! We can glorify God by honoring him in our thoughts and our actions. We have all heard it before, “actions speak louder than words!” It is not enough to just be able to quote scripture or to say what we think God wants to hear, we have to show him through our actions. All of our thoughts should be on God and his word. Think about how Jesus glorified his heavenly father. There was never a time where Jesus wasn’t glorifying him. Jesus committed to God fully and devoted every action, word, and thought to him.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

We can glorify God by taking care of the investment that God left us with. Remember what we talked about in Your Body is an Investment, our bodies are not our own they are simply on loan to us from God. We must take care of our bodies by eating right, exercising, getting rest, and other forms of self-care. Our bodies are temples of God, much like the church. You wouldn’t deface or destroy it, so we must treat our bodies with care.

He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 17:20

Another way we can glorify God is through Active Faith, Love Without Limits, and offering ourselves as Living Sacrifices. Remember that we have to have faith and trust in God at all times because only he has the answers to the questions we seek. God asks that we seek to have peace with everyone no matter who they are at all times. God loves when we make it a priority to get along with our brothers and sisters in Christ. As For Sure Christians, we should know the Side Effects of Sin so that we can strive each and every day to avoid falling into sin. We can continually glorify him by putting on the Whole Armor of God, and reading the word daily.

Questions To Ask Yourself:

1. How can I dedicate myself to God’s Glory?

2. Am I willing to dedicate what God has for me over my life?

3. Am I willing to commit to what God will ask of me?

4. What are your spiritual gifts that God has

With Love, glorifying God is something that we should do each and every day regardless of what it is whether we are eating, praying, working, relaxing, and so on. It is important to worship Him and Seek His Face daily. Confer with God about what you should do next and how you should move. Know that your actions speak louder than your words, it’s not enough to just know scripture you have to be living by it as well. Glorifying God takes full commitment; it is not something that you can do sometimes. Glorify him in all that you do.

~Just Breathe...A Golden Dream~

Amen.
