Motivational Mondays #34: Your Body Is An Investment

Welcome to Motivational Mondays!

First things first, what is Motivational Mondays?

Just like it sounds, to motivate, to empower, and to encourage you on the first day of a fresh week. I don't know about you but Mondays can be a drag for me, so sometimes words of encouragement and positivity are helpful to start my day off right.

Motivational Monday's topic is: Your Body Is An Investment

After writing the Weekly Topic Saturdays post, The Creator, The Manual, The Invention the idea that our bodies are not ours crossed my mind. Briefly, I discussed in the post that God is our creator, he is the creator of all things. We know that to be true if we read the book of Genesis. As our creator he created us, meaning we are indeed His invention created in His image. We, as an invention, can not claim something that we did not create in the first place, which is our bodies. We were given life and with that life, holds great responsibility.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Your body is not your own. I know, it's hard to wrap your head around the idea that your body really isn't your own. Because God created us, our bodies are his property. Our bodies are holy because God is holy. I love how the scripture poses the question in a "duh" way. "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?"

It's like “duh” how do you not know that. One thing I love about the bible is, it's the only book that will bless you, encourage you, chastise you, and correct you all in the same chapter. Sometimes it's in the same verse. Because we were made by Christ we have Christ in us, so it's not just us living our lives, scripture said our bodies are members of Christ. We are living for God and His purpose.

We are bought only to be priceless. Jesus paid the ultimate price by dying on the cross for our sins. Jesus’s ultimate expression of love is him dying for us. Do you know how much someone has to love you for them to be willing to die for you and ask nothing of you in return except to follow the commandments and do God’s will? Jesus did not discriminate or choose who he would die for. He died for us all the good and the bad because he wanted us to have a fighting chance to get into the Kingdom of Heaven.

The next time we question Jesus’s love for us, we should result back at the cross. Jesus’s arms stretched out wide. That’s how much.

Stewardship is required. Taking care of God's investment is a must. Whoever is reading this please take care of your bodies. If you don't make your body a priority NOW then, later on, the majority of your time spent on earth will be treating your ailments.

Quite frankly, I'm just now learning how serious managing your own body is. Our bodies need to be in proper care and harmony in order to live out our calling. Self-care Really Is A Must do not let anyone tell you differently. Like we discussed before you cannot help anyone if you are running on empty yourself. You cannot serve God to your fullest potential if you are not in tip-top optimum shape.

By definition, the word steward or stewardship is the job of supervising or taking care of something, such as an organization or property.

I love what “The Daniel Plan” had to say about stewardship and taking responsibility for your bodies. Take a look. "I am not the owner of my body, but I am the caretaker, or manager, of it. The word manager in the Bible is a steward. Taking care of my body is an issue of spiritual stewardship. In fact, God tells me that one day I will have to give an account for how well I managed everything he gave me, including my body. I will stand before God and have to answer the question, "what did you Do with what I gave you"

-The Daniel Plan, Rick Warren, Daniel Amen, and Mark Hyman

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Hebrews 13:16

Let’s look at it like this. Just like in the church where the stewards are there to help take care of the church body we have to do the same for ourselves. When we see our brothers and sisters in need if it is within our power we should lend them a helping hand. The bible tells us to give without looking for anything in return. To give without question. Like we talked about in Attributes of God, God is omnipresent. He sees and hears all so when we take the time to be kind to others it warms his heart. When he sees us living the way he intended it makes him smile.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12 1-2

Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Matthew 6:22-23

When I was little my family and I lived in Italy for five years. One thing I loved about living in Italy was not only the rich culture but the cathedrals, temples, and churches that were primarily on every street corner. On-field trips we would visit some of the famous and iconic churches that still stand to this day. I remember that even though they were very old they were each kept in outstanding perfection so that new visitors could witness the beauty that these Holy temples had. These buildings are hundreds of years old but are preserved and maintained in a way to still service and be viewed for the pleasure of others to look at and be amazed by their architecture and purpose.

This is how we should take care of ourselves so that we can be kept in outstanding care. When you feel good you are good and that is contagious to others especially when the Holy Spirit resides within you. So keep your body clean and pure, and in shape so that God can be pleased with what you did with what he gave you on Judgement Day.

**I hope everyone has a safe and blessed week and I will see you all on Saturday for our Weekly Topic Saturdays**
