Weekly Topic Saturdays #48: Receiving Revelation

Welcome to Weekly Topic Saturdays!

Hello all, I pray that your week was filled with joy and love. Welcome back to those who have been with me here at A Golden Dream. For my first-timers, a great big hello there, if you haven't already please check out my previous posts when you get a chance.

Please don't hesitate to join the conversation, there are no right or wrong answers or questions. I'm not proclaiming to know everything, I am simply just discussing and picking topics on things that I personally have gone through and that I know would help someone.

So, today's topic is about receiving revelation and asking the question, "What does that even mean?" I’m the type of person that will seek out information in order to fully understand what it is that I don't understand. This topic was no different.! I wanted to also dig in the Word to find out what the Bible says about Receiving Revelations and what we should do when we have them.

There are so many ways we can receive clarity and understanding from God.

STORYTIME:

Just recently I was on the phone with my mom. I was talking to her about my victory garden that I started in the fall of last year. I started with one morning glory plant and a coleus plant that my First Lady gave to me. For several months, I watched it slowly grow, hoping that I didn't kill them from overwatering it. Once the spring hit, I eagerly put them outside and boy did they evolve beautifully. Every day they got stronger, and I saw new leaves and flowers blooming. As it got hotter outside I began to add more plants to my victory garden like Marigolds, Bell Peppers, Bachelor Buttons, a variety of Sunflowers 🌻, four types of coleus plants, Forget Me Nots, and Petunias.

As my plants began to thrive I noticed my morning glory vines were beginning to grow over the pot that it was in, letting me know that I should soon re-pot it. Well, within that same week the morning glory started to grow longer vines and started to seek out the plant that was next to it; so much so that it started to wrap itself around my bachelor button plant.

Immediately I unwrapped the two because it was actually pulling the bachelor button out of its own soil. After 24hours the plants sought each other again, wrapping onto each other's stems tighter this time. At that moment both my mom and I had a revelation to what the Word of God says about Seeking God’s Face and what he will do for us.

I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:1-2

Like I mentioned in the Seek His Face post, to seek God is to put him in the center of our world, causing us to draw near to each other, us to him and him to us! With God being in us, others will seek that light because it is contagious.

THE END

There's a revelation in everything we do if we stay in the Word. We have to be open to receiving it and listen out for God! Remember revelation is revealing or communicating a divine truth. I never knew that starting a victory garden would bring such a new perspective of the word or such a great revelation. Through my garden, I have learned so much about how God wants to nurture, provide sunlight, as well as provide the tools/resources that we need to produce a bountiful harvest! God knew what he was doing when he created Morning Glories. For those that don’t know, Morning Glories only open their blooms in the Morning or at certain times throughout the day. There's nothing like seeking and opening up to God in the morning.

Here are some fun facts: they can grow 15 feet in height with a growing season, they twist and seek plants around them, they produce trumpet-shaped blooms, open in direct sunlight, their leaves are heart-shaped, and they are active climbers!

Ways We Can Receive Revelation

Submitting and Adhering Ourselves to the Word of God Consistently.

And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe

1 Thessalonians 2:13

You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,

John 5:39

Meditating on the Word of God Continually!

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Joshua 1:8

Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress

1 Timothy 4:13

Through the Holy Spirit!

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said

John 14:26

Through Visions and Dreams

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying,

“Do not fear, Abram,

I am a shield to you;

Your reward shall be very great.”

Genesis 15:1

God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.”

Genesis 46:2

Through Other People

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 PETER 4:10

Through Hardships and Lessons That Teach Us Knowledge!

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction

Proverbs 1:7

Through Prayer!

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Jeremiah 33:3

Questions To Consider:

  1. Have you experienced a revelation?

  2. What times of revelations does God give you? Through prayers? Other people? Dreams or Visions perhaps?

  3. How often do you pray to God? Do you wait for him to answer?

  4. What will you do with your revelation?

With Love, remember that God can use anything or anyone to provide revelation. It is our responsibility to be open-minded, pray, have faith, and listen out for what God is trying to tell us. God wants to see us grow spiritually and mature in Christ and he will use what you least expect to teach. Work on sharpening your prayer life, and your tool of discernment so that you will be ready to receive what God is trying to GIVE.

~Just Breathe...A Golden Dream~

Amen.
