Weekly Topic Saturday #27: God’s Plan Overrides Yours

Updated: Feb 20, 2021

Welcome to Weekly Topic Saturdays!

Hello all, I pray that your week was filled with joy and love. Welcome back to those who have been with me here at A Golden Dream. For my first-timers, a great big hello there, if you haven't already please check out my previous posts when you get a chance.

Please don't hesitate to join the conversation, there are no right or wrong answers or questions. I'm not proclaiming to know everything, I am simply just discussing and picking topics on things that I personally have gone through and that I know would help someone.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails

Proverbs 19:21

In this world, we live in it's so easy to get caught up. With the click of a button, or instant gratification we can easily become prideful, boastful, and sometimes arrogant and we miss the mark on what's really important. This world is filled with so many devices and distractions that keep us ignorant to giving God praise where praise is due.

REMEMBER THIS!

God Is Sovereign

The preparation of the heart belongs to man; but the answers of the tongue is from the LORD

Proverbs 16:1

One thing we need to remember and constantly remind ourselves of is God's sovereignty. Sovereign means God has complete power to do whatever he wants when he wants. He has power over all things and ordains everything according to his purpose and will.

Like we discussed in Motivational Monday #04: Attributes of God, God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. He knows all, sees all, is all-powerful, and is everywhere all at the same time. He is our creator; he tells us on more than one occasion in the bible that he is here for us. He watches over us as we live our lives, and as we sleep soundly. When we become worried, stressed, anxious, confused, and uncertain, all we have to do is talk to him and he will guide us on the way in which we should go.

We Should All Have

A Little Talk With Christ!

Now, one could pose a question saying, well if God is all-knowing and all-powerful, why do we need to tell him our plans? Does he even take them into consideration? Doesn't he already know what they are? (If I'm being honest, I too asked these same questions)

Here's the good news, the bible says,

Take delight in the Lord,

and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4

God doesn’t decline our desires and fills them with only his. The bible tells us that God loves to hear from us. He loves to talk with us. He wants to hear about our day even though he was right there with us. He wants us to tell him about our desires, wants, our feelings, and thoughts.

In doing so, also keep in mind that God has the FINAL say so. He and ONLY he can make the appropriate and necessary decisions for our lives.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Psalm 32:8

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

So often we think that we know better than God. We think that we have the answers for everything and that cannot be further from the truth. God knows all. Remember he has planned and has overseen every step before we were even born. He knows what you will be doing 20 years from now, 80 years from now, or until we pass on from this world.

I don't know about y'all but I barely know what I am going to be doing 20 minutes from now. When we don't understand something we should turn to God. It is not enough to just communicate with him and ask him for his advice, we have to have faith that he knows what he is doing. God will always have our best interest at heart and will never do anything to intentionally cause us harm. The next time that you have questions, consult God, I know for certain he can and will help.

Questions To Consider:

  1. Do you share your plans with God before you start aiming to complete them?

  2. How would you feel if what your doing now is not what God wants? If he told you, would you then change your lifestyle?

  3. Have you asked God what his plans are for your life?

  4. If God told you what he really wants from you, would you willingly and faithfully say yes to his will?

  5. Do you always have to be in control?

Last Golden Nuggets (LGN)

Hey Golden Dreamers, before I leave you with love I want to give you some homework and a few Golden Nuggets to ponder on.

Commit your work to the LORD and your plans will be established

Proverbs 16:3

Plan Your Desires and Wants

Take a moment and re-evaluate where you are and what you want!

  1. Whether it is right now or in the future. Where do you see yourself next year or 5 years from now? Do you need to reshape your thought process or your inner circle? What will make you happy?

Pray To God About Your Desires and Wants

It's one thing to write them down, it's another to bring them to God and tell him about them!

  1. When was your last conversation with God? Did you tell him what you wanted? I encourage you to bring all your cares and wants to God and let him hear it. God is listening. You have not because you ask not.

  2. Then lastly, be specific in what you want.

Submit Your Request To God

Once you have (1) planned out your desires, then (2) prayed about them, now finally (3) hand over the control you have over them and let God do this will!

  1. God is not a genie that grants your every wish, if that were so we would all be some entitled and spoiled individuals, using God for all the wrong reasons. Once you prayed about it let go and let God. It’s in better hands anyway, so don't worry.

With Love, remember that God is sovereign and he knows the plans over our lives. He knows what’s best, but also remember to take into consideration that God does want to hear from us. He loves it when we include him in our plans. So don't be afraid to ask, and make sure to pray on both the big and the small things in your lives. Plan the desires of your heart, pray about them to God, then lastly submit them to God; let him work on your behalf. God has the ultimate authority and sovereignty over your life. Give it to him!

~Just Breathe...A Golden Dream~

Amen.
