Weekly Topic Saturday #15: I Still Have Joy in 2020

Welcome to Weekly Topic Saturdays!

Hello all, I pray that your week was filled with joy and love. Welcome back to those who have been with me here at A Golden Dream. For my first-timers, a great big hello there, if you haven't already please check out my previous posts when you get a chance.

Please don't hesitate to join the conversation, there are no right or wrong answers or questions. I'm not proclaiming to know everything, I am simply just discussing and picking topics on things that I personally have gone through and that I know would help someone.

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

I don’t know about yall but this year has been a wild one and it has taken us some pretty big highs and lows. The year 2020 has been a never-ending nightmare full of social injustices, a pandemic, politics, and more. As a nation, we have gone from leading seemingly normal lives to now having to be overly cautious about what we do, where we go, who we come into contact with, and so on. I know that we joke with our friends saying that we have experienced 10 years' worth of events in one year, but I am telling you it definitely feels like it.

Like I mentioned earlier this year has been wild and it would be easy to write this year off and call it a horrible year, but in all honesty it truly has not been all bad. For most of us including myself, we have been wanting and longing to start projects, save money, get into shape, invest in a side hustle, start a blog, pick up a new skill, spring clean, spend time at home, get closer with God, take a break, and so on.

Believe it or not, as stressful as this year has seemed, 2020 has allowed us to accomplish some of those tasks. I don't know about y'all but I am always busy. I, oftentimes, am always caught up within the cycle of the day that I do not make time to do some of the things I would do if I had the time.

It may sound crazy to some, but in 2020, I still have faith. I still have joy, peace, and happiness. I still have hope. Don’t get me wrong when everything started up back in March of this year I couldn’t fathom what was going on and as time went on I couldn’t see things getting any better. I could feel myself getting anxious, depressed, and worried. Worried about my job, food, basic essentials, and being locked in our homes because of Covid. I was scared and I didn't know how long it would be before things would turn around. The uncertainty was eating at me and was causing me to feel even worse. I wanted to see my family, my friends, go back to going out and enjoying life the way it was.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Matthew 6:25-27

Then I came to realize in the midst of all of that worrying that I cannot achieve anything by worrying. God will always provide as he does for the birds, the earth when it needs water, and the animals when they need food. In the scripture above it asks simple questions. What can come of being anxious and worrying? Can we add a single hour to our lives by worrying or being anxious? The answer to those questions is no. I had to change my perspective of 2020. I had to look at all of the things that were going right this year, and all the things that I have been able to accomplish. You should do the same.

When situations get tough and the circumstances seem like there is no way out, I challenge you to change your perspective. Look for the positives. Find something in that moment that is going right. When you change your perspective your outlook shifts too. This year has brought me closer to God, it has helped my walk in faith grow so much stronger.

Just imagine what we can accomplish when we STOP worrying, stressing out.

Just have Faith and know that

God will provide for us.

Questions To Consider:

  1. What has been your perspective on this year overall?

  2. Has your perspective shifted any since the beginning?

  3. What are some positive things that have happened to you this year?

  4. Do you still have joy in 2020?

With Love, In these traumatic and uncertain times, try to change your perspective and cast all your cares on who matters most in this time. God! God knew this would happen, nothing catches him by surprise and he is the only one that’s going to see us through this pandemic.

Stay Blessed. Stay Covered, and Stay Golden!

~Just Breathe...A Golden Dream~

Amen.
