Welcome to Motivational Mondays!
First things first, what is Motivational Mondays?
Just like it sounds, to motivate, to empower, and to encourage you on the first day of a fresh week. I don't know about you but Mondays can be a drag for me, so sometimes words of encouragement and positivity are helpful to start my day off right.
Motivational Monday's topic is:
Trust vs. Control
This week's Motivational topic really hit home for me because of how I sometimes struggle with finding a balance between the two. If you are anything like me, you like to be in control and will often feel stressed or anxious when things get out of control.
In God, whose word I praise — in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
Psalm 56:4
What I have been learning on this journey of getting closer in my walk with God is that he is the one in control, not me. God’s Will Overrides Mine because only he knows what is best for me at all times. He doesn't wait for me, I wait for Him. Surrendering all is a hard task to do but it is necessary.
Let’s talk about trust, shall we? Trust is something I know all too well. Whether or not you have trust, don’t trust enough, or simply trust too much; trust me I have been there. Well, I'm still there. Before starting this journey I had a hard time trusting people, let alone trusting God. Like I said, I trusted him but I never put my full weight on him and actually believed it. So in starting this spiritual journey with God, you should know that was the first task he assigned me. And man, let me tell you he lays it on thick!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3: 5-6
TRUST
It took me a while to figure out that, honestly, I really didn't trust God. Let me tell you, God is serious when he says trust in me, and not you. Like you don't know anything so trust in me who knows all and can do all, and be all without becoming weary. God meant business!
Trust is a key component in everything dealing with or concerning God. God says to have faith. Faith is trust. Trust is faith. Faith and trust are the assurance for things we hope for but cannot yet see. The things God is asking us to do are usually not tangible, they are spiritual.
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
Jeremiah 17: 7-8
I encourage you wholeheartedly to grab your bible and look up scriptures that have anything dealing with trust. That was and is the best thing that I could ever do because when life is throwing stones and is mentally exhausting, you have to be able to lean on the Word of God. It’s so vital that you do.
Do you truly trust God?
CONTROL
By a show of comments, How many people have a problem with control? It can be self-control, always being in control, or just knowing God is in control. I realized early on in my life that my life was out of control. I wasn’t taking care of myself at all, I wasn’t eating correctly, and mentally I was a ticking time bomb. The thought of being out of control drove me to the edge.
Do you always need/feel to be in control all the time?
What happens when you're not in control?
I love what the bible tells us about self-control because it eases my mind. Check it out!
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:7
A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.
Proverbs 25:28
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
The bible is truly unmatched. Self-control is key. There’s no other way around it. When life is uncertain, when situations get out of hand, when people come at you sideways, or when life happens, it is your level of self-control that God is looking at. God wants to know what your Response is When The Things Get Tough. Are you the type of person that spirals, do you get enraged, do you lash out, do you pray, or turn to God? This is what God is looking for, this is what he wants to know.
If there is anything that I know about control it is that the only thing that is truly within our control is ourselves. We cannot control our environment, other people, or anything else that is outside of us physically. We have to trust that things will go to plan. We have to practice Active Faith and believe in God knowing that he will take care of it all.
**I hope everyone has a safe and blessed week and I will see you all on Saturday for our Weekly Topic Saturdays**
