Motivational Mondays #35: CTRL, ALT, Delete

Updated: May 2, 2021

Welcome to Motivational Mondays!

First things first, what is Motivational Mondays?

Just like it sounds, to motivate, to empower, and to encourage you on the first day of a fresh week. I don't know about you but Mondays can be a drag for me, so sometimes words of encouragement and positivity are helpful to start my day off right.

Motivational Monday's topic is: CTRL + ALT + DELETE

For the majority, when hearing the function Ctrl, Alt, and Delete, it should be familiar to you. If not, no worries, I will explain.

By way of definition:

Ctrl-Alt-Delete: a combination of three keys on a PC keyboard, usually labeled Ctrl, Alt, and Delete, when held down simultaneously, it will bring up a Task Manager allowing you to either close an application that is not responding, reboot the computer, log in, etc.

-Dictionary.com

I took the liberty of doing my homework and finding out just how this computer function came to be. I came across this article and learned some really interesting fun facts. Check it out!

The History of the

CTRL + ALT +DELETE

Function

...One of the programmers’ pet peeves was that whenever the computer encountered a coding glitch, they had to manually restart the entire system. Turning the machine back on automatically initiated a series of memory tests, which stole valuable time. “Some days, you’d be rebooting every five minutes as you searched for the problem,” Bradley says. The tedious tests made the coders want to pull their hair out...

-Article written by Virginia Hughes

So to bring clarity, the reason they created the function was that there was a glitch that occurred in the computer system. Having to constantly restart the whole computer was troublesome, so creating this function saved time and resolved the problem at hand. With all that being said,

Do you have a glitch within your system?

Your system being your life, of course! As flawed human beings, we are almost always coming across trouble. Even the Word says we will have troubled times and to not lean on our own understanding.

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

I want to push this idea of using this Ctrl, Alt, and Delete function. One thing that has helped me and I constantly have to remind myself is to find my source. Just like any electric device, they soon will run out of battery. This is why it’s imperative to take care of yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. If it's not life or death, if the situation will not matter as time progresses, if knowing or getting involved in that situation does not benefit you in a way that is healthy, and/ or if it is not within your control, then it’s time to Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

I know that’s a mouth full and easier said than done but, listen take it one day at a time until it forms a habit. I am learning this right now! Let’s better ourselves together. In Jesus' name. Amen!

Whew!

I took it upon myself to give this Ctrl, Alt, and Delete function A Golden Dream makeover, with an attitude. Check It Out!

CONTROL (Ctrl): Do you have Self- Control?

If you don’t, this will be hard for you, I'm going, to be honest with you. I can’t stress this enough, self-control is vital in wanting a relationship with Christ. Personally, I’ve failed at self-control, miserably. When trouble, situations, and people came after me it wasn’t so much the issue but my response and how I handled it was what got me in trouble. My flesh, anger, and temper would override my self-control and I would react out of hurt and anger. Let me tell you, this is not the way to go. Please find another way, please! If you cannot handle or control yourself then the enemy will surely make a fool out of you.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1:7

ALTER, ALTERNATIVE, ALTERATION (Alt): Things have to shift in order to change.

Alt can mean a lot of things but what I want it to represent is change. If you can remember in my bio on the website, I mention that I have two degrees in Fashion. Just like with clothes, once they no longer fit you properly, they now need to be altered in a way to cater to your body. Whether it’s letting out seams, hemming, and/ or taking in, all clothes will have to undergo alterations. Fix what is broken and heal in order to move on. It took me the past 7 years to realize and go through the motions on how and what to fix within myself. It’s taken the last two years to actively change my approach and let God lead the way.

Do you need altering?

What are some areas in your life that need work?

For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

Psalm 32:8

Delete: Once you know where you're headed, Delete the rest that no longer serves you.

You wouldn’t go on a beach trip only to pack in your suitcase winter clothes and boots, right?! So why would you hang on to things that take up your time, energy, and space? You have to escape the gravitational pull that weighs you down and keeps you down. The key to escape is to push through the discomfort of wanting to give up. Trust me, it's worth it! This is why it is so important to declutter old things, habits, and mindsets that no longer serve a purpose in your life. To make room for what God has for you.

What are you willing to give up and let go of?

Have you packed accordingly to the change you want to see?

Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

1 Corinthians 9: 24-25

**I hope everyone has a safe and blessed week and I will see you all on Saturday for our Weekly Topic Saturdays**

Amen.
