Motivational Mondays #26: God Is Love

Welcome to Motivational Mondays!

First things first, what is Motivational Mondays?

Just like it sounds, to motivate, to empower, and to encourage you on the first day of a fresh week. I don't know about you but Mondays can be a drag for me, so sometimes words of encouragement and positivity are helpful to start my day off right.

Motivational Monday's topic is: God Is Love

There’s no coincidence that I chose this topic around the time of Valentine's Day. I wanted to bring to your attention the true meaning of love and what better way than to mention God’s Love. God’s love is one that is a true definition of the term itself. In scripture, the bible tells us that God indeed is love. Let’s take a look.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 4: 7-8

What I love about this scripture is that it exposes a lot of things. One, that I'm referred to as beloved. Right of the bat, I’m already loved. Beloved by definition means to be dearly loved. So boom! WE are loved. Two, the bible strictly informs us to love one another, PERIOD. It didn’t say don't love them because he says she says, or because of race, religion, or any of that. It said to love one another. The scripture tells why because God is love. God does not hate nor does he hate so why do we?. God is the opposite of hate. Then, furthermore, it exclaims that if we do hate then we are not of God. So it checks you right there. One thing I love about the bible is that it puts you in your place and exposes your flaws and it’s up to you to self-correct sense you know better.

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

1 John 4: 9-12

Ask yourself, are you loving on another?

Is God in you?

Another example of this scripture is found in Matthew. Jesus was confronted with a question from one of the disciples. Let's take a look at what happened.

Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Matthew 22: 36-40

With this scripture being in our minds always remind yourself to love God because God is love and to also love one another. Yes, sometimes it gets hard to love people especially when they do wrong or have no clue they are hurting others but lead by example and love them anyway because God loves us. I know it sounds clique but be the you you want to see and soon, prayerfully others will follow because of your example.

Be kind to one another and be blessed.
